Romeo and Juliet could have ran away together; however, Romeo killed Tybalt causing Romeo to get banished from Verona. Lastly, Romeo can be blamed for killing himself at the end of the play. Romeo was not able to get over the fact that his love had died. Romeo is not aware of Juliet and Friar Lawrence’s plan with the potion so in turn he takes his own life thinking Juliet is really dead.In the beginning, Romeo is brooding over his unrequited love for Rosaline. When he sees Juliet at a party, Romeo instantly falls in love with her instead. They impulsively decide to marry the next day.As Friar Lawrence enters the tomb, Juliet awakes to find Romeo lying dead. Frightened by a noise, the Friar flees the tomb. Juliet kills herself with Romeo’s dagger.Romeo, believing Juliet is dead, takes poison saying, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. Juliet, upon waking to find Romeo dead, takes his dagger and stabs herself, exclaiming, This is thy sheath [stabs herself]; there rest, and let me die.Act 3, scene 3 Friar Lawrence tells Romeo that his punishment for killing Tybalt is banishment, not death.
